Uber is offering free to and fro rides to a vaccination center to anyone eligible for Covid-19 vaccination.

Uber India has pledged free rides worth ₹ 10 Cr to help vaccinate vulnerable citizens. These free rides can be used by users to commute from their location to an authorised vaccination center and back home. The current target group therefore for this scheme is citizens above 60 years of age and the 45+ age group with co-morbidities, ie people identified for the second phase of India’s vaccination drive.

Uber has made available an easily redeemable code that can be conveniently used to claim these free rides. Uber has also partnered with multiple NGOs like the Robin Hood Army to leverage this initiative in getting the elderly & the underprivileged vaccinated.

How to claim free rides:
  • Tap the menu in the top left of the Uber app and select ‘Wallet’
  • Select ‘Add Promo Code’ at the bottom
  • Add the promo code for a trip to the nearest Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Authorised vaccination centre in a Govt. or Private hospital and the return trip
  • Navigate to the rides home screen and enter the pick-up/drop-off location for yourself or the person you are booking for
  • Confirm your trip
  • The value of each free ride will be maximum Rs. 150 and a rider is entitled to maximum of two free rides, to and from the vaccination center
  • The final fare displayed before confirming the trip will be inclusive of the discount
